The Failover service is intended to provide a fault tolerant Internet service by clustering two BizGuardian Firewalls into a Master/ (active) Backup configuration. Ideally each Firewall should be connected to a different Internet Service Provider (ISP) as the Failover service can monitor connectivity between Internet sites to determine if the ISP, gateway or network path has failed. However, with both Firewalls connected to the same ISP you still are providing fault tolerance against the Firewall servers.
Setting up a Failover configuration can be done in minutes. Settings are copied from the configured firewall to the backup and all managed through an easy to understand web based administration.
The Diagram below displays a simple BizGuardian Failover configuration with the Backup Server providing an active role.
